Hypnotherapy For Just About Everyone
As far as making changes in our lives, hypnotherapy is the greatest tool I have found. So, most of us have something in ourselves we would like to improve, right? Maybe it is something big that really affects us emotionally, physically, spiritually, or financially everyday. Or perhaps it is just some minor tweaking we would like to do to make our lives even better. Either way, hypnotherapy works wonders. I know, I am a hypnotherapist and I also have one that I see when I need to rearrange my responses, feelings, or behaviors to better suit the life I choose. Some therapists, typically referred to as hypnotists, will be trained in or specialize only with smoking cessation, weight loss, or stress reduction. Those usually referred to as hypnotherapists are often trained in or specialize in the above mentioned three topics as well as anxiety, depression or mood issues, self-confidence, self-esteem, alcohol control, phobias (fears), sexual issues, and more. In the U.S., the practice of hypnotism is not very regulated, thus the terms applied to the therapist are not uniform. You may find practitioners using varying titles, and that's ok. What is important to know is whether or not they are qualified to help you based on your needs and desired outcome. It goes a long way in knowing their credentials if they belong to an organized professional body that screens it's members for training and competence. The National Guild of Hypnotists and American Council of Hypnotists Examiners (A.C.H.E.) are two such professional groups with whom you can know their members are screened and have passed tests for competence in the field of hypnotism. Remember, if they practice hypnotherapy, they do need to be trained accordingly. The U.S. (Department of Labor) Directory of Occupational Titles (D.O.T. 079.157.010) supplies the following definition:"Hypnotherapist -- Induces hypnotic state in client to increase motivation or alter behavior pattern through hypnosis. Consults with client to determine the nature of problem. Prepares client to enter hypnotic states by explaining how hypnosis works and what client will experience. Tests subject to determine degrees of physical and emotional suggestibility. Induces hypnotic state in client using individualized methods and techniques of hypnosis based on interpretation of test results and analysis of client's problem. May train client in self-hypnosis conditioning.
