Natural Weight Loss - Choose Your Words Carefully

Natural Weight Loss - Choose Your Words Carefully
by Reev Pierce Albuquerque, New Mexico

As a Consulting Hypnotist practicing in the Albuquerque, NM area, I primarily work with weight loss. Although fully trained and certified as a prerequisite to practice, I have learned more from working with clients on an individual basis than years of book learning could ever produce. I believe I have narrowed down the single most critical issue to be addressed when it comes to natural weight loss. First, let me describe what I mean when I use the word "natural" when it comes to losing weight.

Natural Weight Loss
The term "natural weight loss" in this context, is not in reference to a particular diet, or set of exercises. It means the absence of surgeries and drugs as a means of reducing weight. It means an ease and comfort with the process of losing weight. It means thinking and acting like a thin person. Clearly, natural weight loss is the most desirable course for most people, as it is non-invasive, and comfortable.

Self-Talk
As mentioned above, my practice has a focus on weight loss and I have found one key issue to be paramount in successfully removing the excess pounds. Self-talk. The concept of self-talk refers to what you say out loud, inside your head, and what you agree with that comes from others.

Our realities are created by the words we use. For better or worse, how we talk, and the exact words we use, program our minds. Our minds then use that programming to either change our reality or reinforce the one already in place. When it comes to losing weight, this is especially crucial. If you refer to yourself as, "heavy," "fat," or "large," your mind will see to it that you are not a liar, and will create, or reinforce an overweight reality. Likewise, if you consistently refer to yourself as, "thin," "light," or "trim," your mind will also see to it that those adjectives become your reality.

The same concept holds true for how you feel about things. For instance, if you tell yourself that you absolutely love butter, and hate spinach, you will reinforce a love of butter and a hatred of spinach. However, the same holds true if you reverse it. You can just as easily create a reality of loving spinach and hating butter, if you so choose. It takes a little practice, and it certainly takes a willingness, yet you surely can do it.

A Note About Reality
Reality is what you make it to be. I bring this up because it comes up with about half of the people I work with. They find it odd, or uncomfortable to refer to themselves as "thin, trim, or light," because that isn't what they see at the moment, and it feels like they are lying to themselves. In fact, it is the people who are willing to set aside the current, created reality, that can move past it to create a new (or perhaps long forgotten) reality. Even if it doesn't "seem" accurate, or right, at first, when you choose your words carefully, you can easily create the thin, trim, body you desire. Besides all of these reasons for calling yourself thin and trim, it also feels much better to hear these words than the alternatives. You'll find yourself reinforcing the thin feelings more and more, and in turn, watching the pounds melt away.
