The Pre-session Pep Talk For Hypnotists
The Pre-session Pep Talk For Hypnotists by John Weir Pittsburgh, PA
For most of my adolescence, I was involved in sports. I played basketball, baseball, football, and I was even on a snowboarding team. All of these sports have one thing in common, a pre-game pep talk. Before every big game or snowboarding competition, our coach would gather everyone and give a motivating and inspiring pep talk. The words always filled the air with positive energy that excited everyone to perform their best. I know that as hypnotherapists, we aren’t concerned with winning the big game. Our concern is much greater than that, we are concerned with changing a life!
Our jobs as hypnotherapists are very important, we transform lives. I believe it is essential for all hypnotherapists to possess a positive attitude, and to be in the right frame of mind for every session. I know that not every day in the office can be like the first day of vacation, filled with excitement and energy, but every client deserves to have us at our best and on top of our game. I have found that the easiest way for me to generate excitement and positive energy is to give myself a pre-session pep talk. Giving yourself a pep talk before every session focuses your mind, reframes your attitude, stirs up creativity, and most importantly gets you excited about your work. Our art, hypnotherapy, is so exciting because we help to transform lives and change people’s paradigms of the world. When we get excited about our work and put emotion into it, it is always much more effective. I have created a pre-session pep talk that I wanted to share with everyone. I say this pep talk before every session, especially on the days when I am not motivated. It helps me to remember the wonderful opportunity that is before me as well as to focus my mind on the task at hand. Here is my pre-session pep talk: Today I will help transform a life! I can feel all the positive energy begin to flood my body with every breathe I take. I love my work! I am tapping into my reservoir of healing energy. Sending that mighty energy to my client through every word, thought, and action. My positive aura comforts and calms my client. I am so excited for this opportunity to change a life today. I now focus my mind on the needs and desires of my client. I am a motivator, I am a persuader, I am a master communicator! My powerful words create life-changing transformations. My words create a perfect blueprint of success in the mind of my client. I allow all my creative juices to freely flow through my mind producing potent influential suggestions. My suggestions activate the super hero qualities of my client creating major breakthroughs in their life. I am releasing the miracle working power that I have within me! I love my work! I love my work! I love my work!
I would encourage everyone to use pre-session pep talk like the one above. You are welcome to use this one or create one of your own. If you decide to create your own, remember to always phrase everything in a positive and make it something that generates emotion in you. When reading your pre-session pep talk, say it out loud with conviction, power and belief. I have also found it to be more powerful if you can say it confidently into a mirror. On the days that are more challenging than others, you will find strength in repeating the pep talk a few times. I can remember the words of the most influential coach I ever had, my father. He told me, "Champions are made when nobody is around." He was referring to the importance of practicing but it can be applied to this lesson in a different way. By giving yourself a pre-session pep talk when nobody is around you bring out the champion in you. When you feel great about yourself and like a champion, the only thing you can do is succeed. Our work is very important. Begin using a pre-session pep talk and I know that you will find it boosts energy, excitement, confidence and success in all of your sessions!
